Roman is officially ONE year old. We’ve been celebrating the entire month I feel like… and rightfully so. He will only turn 1 once and although he may not remember it, we always will. Plus we have some pretty awesome photos to show him when he’s older.
The weekend before his birthday, we took off to Western PA for a family camping trip. We stayed in a cabin with our Maryland family while Roman’s grandparents & pseudo-Maryland grandparents brought their campers. Although it was hot/muggy & we got down poured on a couple times, it really was an awesome time. Roman got to play with his cousin Jack, in the grass, barefoot. We had a golf cart for the weekend to get us around the campsite and honestly I believe that was REV’s favorite part. He could be in the worst mood but once we sat in the golf cart – instant smile.
Jack figured out that the golf cart turns on & goes by a certain set of keys. So after day 1, we could no longer leave the keys in the golf cart. Shortly after, Roman figured out that a certain set of keys got us in & out of the cabin – mostly out. So I’m keeping my eyes on these two….. #jailbreak
While in PA, we found this awesome petting zoo/animal sanctuary right up the road from our campsite called LIVING TREASURES. This place was awesome. You purchase baby carrots and animal pellets and you’re free to feed about 90% of the animals. Although Roman had some issues with sharing, as he would take a bite of carrot first before handing it off to the animals.
REV also got to hang out with his older cousin, Paige. We had a lazy afternoon where 80% of our group fell asleep outside, including Paige. And Roman said “nope, I want you to entertain me.” Love her!
Roman turned 1 on July 26, 2017. Unfortunately it was a “daddy shift day” so we couldn’t plan anything big. Roman was with my parents that day while we worked then we set up a little fun cake smash for him – with the theme being Where the Wild Things Are/ WILD ONE. I had so much fun with this. Smallcakes provided the cake and my Mom handled the majority of the décor. It made for some awesome photos.
After the birthday festivities wore down, I swung Roman by daddy’s fire station so he could see him to wish him a happy birthday. Daddy got a cupcake too!
Then, a few days later we celebrated Roman’s birthday again with friends, family and friends-that-are-family. The theme of this was “Roman Hits a Home ONE!” It was definitely a special day.
Everyone that was able to make it, thank you so much. We truly appreciate it. Everyone that wasn’t able to make it but still sent their birthday wishes and gifts, you were on our minds. Thank you everyone for spoiling this handsome little man!
I am so excited to see where this next year takes our family and to see the developments that Roman will make. Of course, everyone should expect more photos to document these adventures!
Which reminds me … I get a ton of compliments about the photos I take and of course how handsome little man is. I just wanted to share with everyone that not all photos turn out how we imagined them…
BUT they’re still perfect in every way!
Thank you for reading our blog & following our lives!
